Dream Home

Some Exciting News {and minty walls!}

OK kids – I have some big exciting news! I’m moving!
For the last 4 years I’ve lived with my sister and her boyfriend/fiance/husband {all the same guy, ps ;)} in an apartment in northern Manhattan. But in 2 months I’m moving Downtown {well, technically to Midtown… but anything is downtown when compared to 181st st…}
This means several exciting things:

1. I’ll be abel to WALK to work!
2. I’ll have a back yard {hello garden parties!}
3. I’ll get to decorate! {= tons of inspo in Pinterest & a few more decor posts that usual!}
Ready to dive in? Let’s start with my new love of mint colored walls. They’re pretty and fun – but soothing at the same time. And they look glam when paired with gold, white, and pink…

What do you think? Mint walls, yay or nay??

Dream Home. (err, Closet…)

This weekend boyfriend and I cleaned out one of our 3 closets. 3 small closets. (Not counting the two miniscule ones we have in our bedroom.) Of our three closets, Crissie uses one, we use one, and the linens occupy the last.

Cris and I have been facing big issues. Storage space in Manhattan apts. Where do we put all the shoes? (Really, see here.)
Lately I’ve been dreaming about closets. And I mean BIG, beautiful, rooms-in-themselves, closets. And then InStyle did a piece on Celebrity closets. Ensue drooling.
Check out all the boots Mariah Carey has! And I love that Christina Aguilera has to use a ladder to reach the height of her Louboutins…
But my fave, by far, is Olivia Wilde’s walk-in closet/office, in her Venice, CA home… the mirrored chests from Anthropologie and cozy rug from Cantoni. I want it all. I want to LIVE there. It looks like a room, rather than a closet. And that, my darlings, is perfection.

Dream Home.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with the idea of my future home. Now, I am only 23… but I’m the oldest 23 year old you’ll ever meet… just ask Crissie. So I bring you a new weekly segment– full of ideas for my dream home, which hopefully isn’t that far off. 😉
Today I came across the website of Rachel Whiting– an AMAZING interior design photographer based out of London. Check out her portfolio here, and some of her beautiful shots, below.

Sigh. Hanging Hunters. Sailboat pictures. Map wallpaper! Could it get any dreamier? I adore the idea of a house with a summer cottage theme. You know– rugged… but without the icky spiders and piles of sand. (I’m also a sucker for cleanliness.) And the blue and yellow combos are to die for. What do you think? Dream home worthy?
