Runway

Here Come the GOWNS!

Get ready – Award Season is upon us! {seriously my favorite season of the year…} The time of year when we get to spend dull winter weekends drinking bubbly and critiquing the starts as they strut down the red carpet in straight off the runway looks.

To prepare here are just a few of the newest {read: pre-fall} designs I’d like to see during the awards circuit.

J. Mendel is a red carpet fave, we always seems to see a few of his gowns on the stars. I love these two Pre-Fall options.
Another award show staple, Naeem Khan turned out some stunners for pre-fall as well. I LOVE the emerald color! And, seeing as it IS the color of the year I’m sure we’ll see a lot of it this season. I’d be interested to see if any of these make the carpet cut – to work they would all have to be styled very simply… too much extra, or even the wrong hair style could ruin their simple glam….
I can’t wait to see what everyone wears this year! What about you?

A Peek At Pre-Fall

Yes, it is true, as unbelievable as it may seem: Pre-fall collections are actually here!!
Let’s take a quick look at a few of my favorite looks so far….
Loving the knee socks and casual cool look of Jenni Kayne’s collection {as per usu}
Another perennial favorite, PoS KILLS it with chic fall layers & muted colors.
And then there’s Oscar. No words are needed. Drool.

What do you think, have a favorite yet?

Fashion Week Exhaustion (the best kind)

It’s hard to believe that Fashion Week is almost over {2 days to go!} and I have yet to blog about it yet… I blame the fact that I have been busy editing all the fab photos I’m taking for my posts on Coco + Kelley {stay tuned – they are coming soon!} Since those posts will be covering the shows I thought I’d do a little trend spotting over here.

First up – a little carry-over from Spring/Summer 2012 – Mint. The fresh pastel doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, I’ve spotted it all over the S/S 13 runways.

Oscar ed la Renta // Rebecca Minkoff // Rodatre // Victoria by Victoria Beckham // Catherine Malndrino // Carolina Herrera

SO – thoughts? Into it, or ready to leave the hue behind?

PS: I couldn’t resist this sneak-peek at my Jenny Packham pics. {Pretty sure Kate Middleton will be wearing it tomorrow….}

Resort Report: California Cool

Jenni Kayne is quickly becoming my favorite designer. There’s something about the way she can mix classically chic silhouettes (a tweed pencil skirt, a tailored blazer…) with non-traditional, laid-back pieces (a bra top, a neon shift) that is just perfection to me.
Her 2013 Resort Collection was no exception.
I’m in love.
I want it all.

Resort Report: Red Carpet Wish List

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately on Pinterest – filling my boards with images from the 2013 Resort collections… I’ve come across a few collections filled with gowns that are begging to be wore to a red carpet event. Here are a few of my favorites:

Monique Lhuillier: The colors in this collection are to die for. Bright oranges and tangerines mixed with hot pinks and creamy whites. And, of course, the gorgeous girlyness one has grown to expect from the designer. But without all the glitter we’ve seen the past few seasons, which is rather refreshing!

J. Mendel: A much more demure collection than Monique Lhuillier, Mendel’s gowns are more about silhouette than color. The gowns create dramatic shapes, and would look stunning on the red carpet. He also uses a lot of floral and lace – as if taking the feminine aspects we saw in Lhuillier’s collection and maturing them.
Carolina Herrera: A classic collection that tells its story with structure. From the barely-there peplum of the ball gown, to the abstract shoulders of the chartreuse number. I adore everything about this line!

All The Pretty Things

Get ready, I’m about to blow your mind. Oh that’s right kids. The next big thing in fashion – brought to you by OscarPRGirl – LIVE PINNING.
An amazing step beyond live tweeting because you know what it means? We get pretty pictures right away. No more having to blog twitpics people. This is the big-time. {I’ll admit, at first I was annoyed that my pins about margaritas were getting lost in OscarPRGirl’s Resort pins. But then they were so pretty I got over it.}
Here are just a few of my favorite moments. {see them all here…}

Pajama Chic

You know those days that you just don’t want to take off your pajamas? {That’s a lot of days for me… }  And then I spotted these bright sweats at Madewell and thought – huh, maybe I don’t have to. Maybe we can dress them up enough to qualify as real clothes {it is a trend now…}
