Oscar Predictions // Best Dressed

Only one more day until we get to see which dresses make the red carpet cut at the Oscars! One of my very favorite things to do is predict who will wear what, and which designers will score red carpet placement.  I’ve never been right…  but I have gotten CLOSE (ish) !! Might as well keep trying, right?

So, here’s what I’d like to see tomorrow!

Sienna Miller has been killing it on the red carpet lately – so I have total faith she’ll be one of this year’s best dressed. I would love to see her in this feathered Elie Saab gown – it’s elegant but still a little edgy 100% Oscar material.

Oscar-looks-1

I think Reese would look amazing in this gown from Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2015 collection, I love the printed skirt, it adds a little something extra to a classic silhouette – plus Reese would look amazing in that blue!

Speaking of classic, Felicity Jones favors sophisticated, elegant red carpet looks – and always looks awesome in them. Fingers crossed she picks this navy and purple Oscar de la Renta gown tomorrow night.

Oscar-looks-4

Jennifer Aniston has been a HUGE fan of the plunging neck-line this season, and she tends to stick with black dresses, my pick for her is this sparkly Naeem Khan number.

Kiera is a little less predictable when it comes to red carpet fashion – but she does often choose whimsical dressed – which is why I think she might be able to pull off this look from the Valentino couture collection. It’s a little risky, but I think she could make it work.

Oscar-looks-2

Miss Stone is a big red carpet risk taker, but I’d like to see her go a little more traditional for the Oscar’s – not totally traditional of course! But I think she’d make every best dressed list in this sparkly/sheer Elie Saab dress!!

With the Fall 15 runway shows going on right now, I’ve also spotted a few color trends that I’l love to see come to life on the red carpet. Ice blue dresses (think Cinderella blue, magical!), sparkly navy and art-deco inspired metallics are poised to have a big night tomorrow.

I also think we’ll see a lot of classics – black, white and gold. And there’s a change that peach and mustard colors could be a break out hit!

I CAN’T WAIT!!

Who do you think will make the best dressed list?

SAG Awards // Best Dressed

If the Golden Globe’s red carpet was all about metallic and neutrals the SAG awards were all about jewel tones. Bold, bright and GORGEOUS.  And there’s something I really love about how blues and greens look contrasted against the red of the carpet.

Best of the Oscars

Raise your hand if you watched the Oscars last night! Did you make it to the end? I barley did… can you imaging sitting though that wearing a couture gown? Yikes!
While we’re on the subject of gowns 😉 let’s take a look at the stars of the red carpet. Sadly, we saw very little color last night – but lots of blushes, nudes and metallics.

A// Miss Saldana wore Alexis Mabille B// Naomi Watts {best total look of the night!} was in an edgy Armani Privé with a perfectly undo up-do C// and Charlize Theron rocked her new buzz cut with some Dior!
The carpet wasn’t totally void of color – D// Reese Witherspoon wore cobalt Louis Vuitton {picked by her daughter Ava…!} and E// Kerry Washington wore a “coral situation” by Mui Mui
Jennifer Lawrence didn’t pick the dresses I wanted her to wear – but she is so awesome I have to forgive her. #1- we learned she is BFFs w/ style star Emma Stone and #2 – she did not seem phased at all when she fell on her way to receive her Oscar! She also looked stunning in the Dior gown she did pick – I didn’t notice last night, but it is dual-toned – a pale pink body with a white flounce!

Red Carpet Ready // Oscar Night

Tomorrow is the big day! The Academy Awards! I imagine stars and stylists are spending today making last minute decisions and alterations in preparation for the event.
So let’s dream a little, shall we? Here’s what I would wear if I was walking the Red Carpet tomorrow…

Oscar Wish List

I am practically giddy with excitement for this weekend – Why? You might ask, well I’ll tell you.
IT’S THE OSCARS!
That’s right ladies and gentlemen the Academy Awards are upon us. Some people predict who will win the gold statues, I however predict red carpet dresses. This year there are some very fashionable ladies nominated and red carpet coverage is sure to be thrilling!
Miss Lawrence has been rocking a lot, a LOT of Dior on the red carpet lately. So I think it’s safe to say we’ll see her in another from the French design house at the Oscars.
I’d love to see Jennifer in option one with a slight alteration – a full length skirt. And option two would look amazing styled with statement heels and a bright necklace.
The magnificent Jessica Chastain tends to stick with simple silhouettes, but she doesn’t shy away from color. My Oscar picks for her take this into consideration – but kick things up a little, it is the Oscar’s after all…
Option one from Marchesa’s fall collection has classic lines, but the embroidery and draping add mega drama. Option two is an Elie Saab dream – she can totally rock the plunging neck line, and the color would look stunning with her red locks!
And moving on to Anne. Oh Anne! Ever since her Les Mis pixie cut Miss Hathaway has been keeping her red carpet looks simple and chic. But she’s also been one to take risks in the past, so maybe she will again for the Oscars?
Not much of a risk – Option One sticks to the simple look she’s been wearing, but brings a lot of color and sparkle. Option two however might be my #1 favorite – pants under fab full skirt with a glittery bodice? YES PLEASE!

That was fun, yes? Goody. I have a whole list of other dresses I want to see on the Red Carpet, maybe I’ll share that soon. 😉

Inspired By // BAFTA Brights

My favorite ladies hit the red carpet again last night for the BAFTAs. Jessica Chastain looked beyond amazing in a bring blue Roland Mouret gown and Marion Cotillard was stunning in bright yellow Dior.
Taking a cue from these lovely ladies, here’s some bright yellow & blue inspiration!

Let’s Talk SAG Awards

PLEASE NOTE – this post was created while watching the heartbreaking new episode of Downton Abbey. I realize I have left out a few of the very best dressed {Kerry Washington  Marion Cotillard…} Please blame Julian Fellowes for these oversights. One can not think clearly when experiencing such emotional trauma.

But here we go – some of the dresses I appreciated form the SAG Awards…

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture // Amanda Seyfried in Zac Posen // Julie Bowen in Johanna Johnson // Amy Poheler in Oscar de la Renta // Anne Hathaway in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture // Michelle Dockery in Chado Ralph Rucci // Lea Michele in Valentino // Nina Dobrev in Elie Saab
And honorable mentions go to: Kiernan Shipka in Oscar de la Renta // Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen // Nicole Kidman in Vivienne Westwood Couture

Who did you think was best dressed last night?

Golden Globes!! Golden Globes!!

Alright kids – let’s break this down. All the big stars {ok, ok, most of them} hit the red carpet last night for the Golden Globes. And like every good fashion blogger I MUST share my opinions.
Overall the red carpet was a little bit of a yawn-fest; soooo many nudes, reds, and blacks that only a few stood out… BUT let’s address those stand outs, shall we?

Marion Cotillard can do no wrong in my book, last night was no exception in this bright Dior dress. Allison Williams is quickly becoming my favorite fasionista {coming soon – a post dedicated just to her} she looked FAB in J. Mendel. And as for the nudes – Kerry Washington stood out in a delicate Mui Mui frock.
I love seeing Lady Mary in modern day garb, her Alexandre Vauthier dress was simply stunning! Lucy Liu brought a little pattern to the party in one of my fave Carolina Herrera pre-fall ball gowns. And Anne, oh Anne. The definition of chic simplicity in Chanel.
I was on the fence about Amy Adams in this Marchesa dress, but it’s really grown on me. The fit is perfect and it is very pretty… maybe it’s just the color throwing me off. And OK Katharine McPhee – you are HOT. That’s all. And to end things out Naomi Watts was straight-up glamorous in Zac Posen. WOW.
Who were your best dressed picks?? Do tell!

PCAs // Dressed Up

And award season is up and running! Woohoo! Things kicked off on Wednesday night with the People’s Choice Awards. I’m a little behind due to a sick day, boo, but here are my picks for best dressed at the PCAs.

Emma Watson in Peter Pilotto // Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren Collection // Lea Michele in Elie Saab
OK – and this is a shocker, but HOW CHIC does Katie Perry look? I adore this Valentino dress – especially for the PCAs, which I see as a very low-key show… her gold head band is fab as well, very Lady Mary, don’t you think?

Emmy Fashion LOVE.

So – I have to start off with these two gowns. a) because they look amazing and b) because they were both on my red carpet wish list!!! eeee! I should totally be a stylist…

Emmys 2012
Ginnifer Goodwin & Padma Lakshmi in Monique Lhuillier

OK- now we have that out of the way let’s dive into the rest of the looks. Several of my faves were bright, BRIGHT yellow… Claire Danes in Lanvin, Julie Bowen in Monique Lhuilier and Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan.

On the darker side – I adored Elisabeth Moss in Dolce & Gabbana, Tina Fey in Vivian Westwood and January Jones in Zac Posen {though I am NOT a fan of her makeup…}

I usualy HATE Julianna Margulies’ red carpet choices – but this one works on her. And the always presh Zooey looked amazing in CUSTOM Reem Acra. But seriously, you’d have to look good in custom Reem!

Last up we have Morena Baccarin in Tony Ward Couture, Emilia Clark in Chanel and Emily Vancamp in J Mendel. Gorgeousness all over.

Did you watch the Emmy’s? Who were your picks for best dressed??
