Resort 2015 // Short & Chic

I’ve been spending some time lately getting caught-up on Resort 2015 collections, and while doing so I’ve noticed a fun little trend. Shorts! OKOK – I know. Shorts? For Resort? A Trend? But before you get all…

…let me explain. This trend isn’t “I’m going to the beach lemme throw on some shorts” shorts. It’s fancy shorts – like, “I’d rock that at work shorts.” Let’s dive in:

Check out what Carolina Herrera is up to. Super classy high-waisted shorts paired with fancy tops and a fun 1940s vibe {I’m aware I have included a dress, it was just way too cute to leave out!}
Here’s Andrew Gn with a look that feels like the uber chic up-town girl’s cool little sister. I’d hang out with her, wouldn’t you?
And of course Rachel Zoe brings an elegant yet edgy take on the look with several monochromatic sets.
And to finish up my little analysis, here’s Honor. The ultimate in girly with florals and lace and wispy romantic blouses. Le sigh.
So, see what I mean? Pretty fun little trend, huh? And to think you doubted me!
Want to rock this look now? Here are a few fun options:

Dreamy Details // Matthew Williamson

In the middle of a vast desert, hot sands stretching out for miles and miles in every direction – you’ll find an oasis. A magical haven of peace, beauty and, well, chicness – because this oasis is Matthew Williamson’s Resort 14 collection. Dreamy beaded details complement desert inspired flora prints, creating a fresh, flirty collection.

Welcome to Chictopia. Why don’t you stay a while?

The Queen of Chic?

I’m here today to put forth a bold statement: Carolina Herrera is the Queen of Chic.
As evidence I submit her Resort 2014 collection. You be the judge:

…So, maybe it wasn’t such a bold statement after-all.

Resort Report: California Cool

Jenni Kayne is quickly becoming my favorite designer. There’s something about the way she can mix classically chic silhouettes (a tweed pencil skirt, a tailored blazer…) with non-traditional, laid-back pieces (a bra top, a neon shift) that is just perfection to me.
Her 2013 Resort Collection was no exception.
I’m in love.
I want it all.

Resort Report: Red Carpet Wish List

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately on Pinterest – filling my boards with images from the 2013 Resort collections… I’ve come across a few collections filled with gowns that are begging to be wore to a red carpet event. Here are a few of my favorites:

Monique Lhuillier: The colors in this collection are to die for. Bright oranges and tangerines mixed with hot pinks and creamy whites. And, of course, the gorgeous girlyness one has grown to expect from the designer. But without all the glitter we’ve seen the past few seasons, which is rather refreshing!

J. Mendel: A much more demure collection than Monique Lhuillier, Mendel’s gowns are more about silhouette than color. The gowns create dramatic shapes, and would look stunning on the red carpet. He also uses a lot of floral and lace – as if taking the feminine aspects we saw in Lhuillier’s collection and maturing them.
Carolina Herrera: A classic collection that tells its story with structure. From the barely-there peplum of the ball gown, to the abstract shoulders of the chartreuse number. I adore everything about this line!

All The Pretty Things

Get ready, I’m about to blow your mind. Oh that’s right kids. The next big thing in fashion – brought to you by OscarPRGirl – LIVE PINNING.
An amazing step beyond live tweeting because you know what it means? We get pretty pictures right away. No more having to blog twitpics people. This is the big-time. {I’ll admit, at first I was annoyed that my pins about margaritas were getting lost in OscarPRGirl’s Resort pins. But then they were so pretty I got over it.}
Here are just a few of my favorite moments. {see them all here…}
