How to Dress // Margot Robbie

I’ve always really liked Sundance, not because of the films, but because it’s a great opportunity for spotting celeb’s winter style. It’s nice to see the non-red-capet, non-LA winter looks that people put together!

Exhibit A: Margot Robbie. Margot’s style tends to be classic, with an edge. She’s a little bit of a fashion risk taker (jumpsuit on the red carpet, that high slit, mixing prints) but she never crosses the line into crazy.

This ensemble at Sundance is a great example. It’s a classic look: sweater and a button down. But the sweater is slightly cropped, her collar is slightly oversized AND she pairs them with leather legging and over the knee boots. Classic, with an edge. I love it.

SAG Awards // Best Dressed

If the Golden Globe’s red carpet was all about metallic and neutrals the SAG awards were all about jewel tones. Bold, bright and GORGEOUS.  And there’s something I really love about how blues and greens look contrasted against the red of the carpet.

Ra-Ra-Red

Color crush of the moment – RED. Spotting Allison Williams in this fab Naeem Khan frock really sealed the deal.

Ready to run out and buy a little red dress? Here are a few of my favorites:

Last Night at the Met…

I love fashion, I love theme parties, so it goes without saying that the Met Galla is kind of my jam. I’m sure you’ve heard – the theme this year was PUNK: From Chaos to Couture. Imagine all the biggest starts of film & fashion all together and punked-out. Even I had a mini-punk period when I painted my nails black and dyed purple streaks in my hair – SO anti-establishment…

Some embraced the theme:

SJP in Giles Deacon & a Philip Treacy headpiece, Anne in vintage Valentino, Madona in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Nina in Monique Lhuillier, Cara in Burberry, Gwen in Margiela
Others paid tribute…
Ginnifer in Tory Burch, Rooney Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Dakota in Rodarte, Hailee in Donna Karan, Allison in Joseph Altuzarra
and then a couple just ignored the theme entirely. {but still looked fab!}
Jennifer in Dior, Gwyneth in Valentino

Oscar Wish List

I am practically giddy with excitement for this weekend – Why? You might ask, well I’ll tell you.
IT’S THE OSCARS!
That’s right ladies and gentlemen the Academy Awards are upon us. Some people predict who will win the gold statues, I however predict red carpet dresses. This year there are some very fashionable ladies nominated and red carpet coverage is sure to be thrilling!
Miss Lawrence has been rocking a lot, a LOT of Dior on the red carpet lately. So I think it’s safe to say we’ll see her in another from the French design house at the Oscars.
I’d love to see Jennifer in option one with a slight alteration – a full length skirt. And option two would look amazing styled with statement heels and a bright necklace.
The magnificent Jessica Chastain tends to stick with simple silhouettes, but she doesn’t shy away from color. My Oscar picks for her take this into consideration – but kick things up a little, it is the Oscar’s after all…
Option one from Marchesa’s fall collection has classic lines, but the embroidery and draping add mega drama. Option two is an Elie Saab dream – she can totally rock the plunging neck line, and the color would look stunning with her red locks!
And moving on to Anne. Oh Anne! Ever since her Les Mis pixie cut Miss Hathaway has been keeping her red carpet looks simple and chic. But she’s also been one to take risks in the past, so maybe she will again for the Oscars?
Not much of a risk – Option One sticks to the simple look she’s been wearing, but brings a lot of color and sparkle. Option two however might be my #1 favorite – pants under fab full skirt with a glittery bodice? YES PLEASE!

That was fun, yes? Goody. I have a whole list of other dresses I want to see on the Red Carpet, maybe I’ll share that soon. 😉

Inspired By // BAFTA Brights

My favorite ladies hit the red carpet again last night for the BAFTAs. Jessica Chastain looked beyond amazing in a bring blue Roland Mouret gown and Marion Cotillard was stunning in bright yellow Dior.
Taking a cue from these lovely ladies, here’s some bright yellow & blue inspiration!

Let’s Talk SAG Awards

PLEASE NOTE – this post was created while watching the heartbreaking new episode of Downton Abbey. I realize I have left out a few of the very best dressed {Kerry Washington  Marion Cotillard…} Please blame Julian Fellowes for these oversights. One can not think clearly when experiencing such emotional trauma.

But here we go – some of the dresses I appreciated form the SAG Awards…

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture // Amanda Seyfried in Zac Posen // Julie Bowen in Johanna Johnson // Amy Poheler in Oscar de la Renta // Anne Hathaway in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture // Michelle Dockery in Chado Ralph Rucci // Lea Michele in Valentino // Nina Dobrev in Elie Saab
And honorable mentions go to: Kiernan Shipka in Oscar de la Renta // Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen // Nicole Kidman in Vivienne Westwood Couture

Who did you think was best dressed last night?

Chic of the Week // Allison Williams

OK – I don’t watch Girls. I don’t know Miss Williams as an actress at all. However – I love her.
Damn the girl knows how to dress {however, she could work on a new pose, that had on the hip look is getting a little stale…}! Here she is – my current style crush – and the Chic of the Week:

Are you a fan of Allison’s style?
